Intuitive eating is a nutrition philosophy based on the idea that we can be healthy when we let our bodies run the show instead of tracking foods to attain a level of health or a weight that your body can never maintain
This is directly opposite of the message we receive every day: eat less, move more, be smaller! We see it on TV, social media, through our friends and family and unfortunately even our doctors and health professionals.
This message is diet culture, and it’s everywhere!
Diet culture describes a 60 billion dollar a year industry that equates a certain size, body type, and diet to health. I’m here to tell you that simply isn’t the case.
Diet culture, which instills in us that our self worth and health is tied to our appearance, keeps us stuck in a spin cycle.
We all know this cycle, right?: with a new diet you do well, lose weight, plateau, fall off and gain. The worst part is, you feel like a failure over and over again.
It’s time to break that cycle and understand that it’s not YOUR fault diets fail, it’s the diet itself! Wouldn’t freedom from that cycle be nice?
Don’t believe me that diets fail? Did you know research shows us that 95% of diets fail, and actually cause weight gain? Did you know that dieting adversely affects overall health? Including mental, physical, emotional health?
THE GOOD NEWS: there is another way to pursue HEALTH and WELLBEING. You can free yourself from diet culture and stop fighting against your body.
Enter intuitive eating.
Intuitive eating is a great approach for people that are SICK AND TIRED of dealing with diet culture: food rules, not eating after 8pm, before and after photos, avoiding carbs, obsessing about weight and feeling like a failure on diet after diet!
Intuitive eating is NOT a weight loss diet, it is a way to free yourself from diet culture and return to your inner cues, building trust with your body again. Your weight may increase, decrease, or stay the same. Weight is not the focus here, health is.
This approach was developed in 1995 by Registered Dietitians Elyse Resch and Evelyn Tribole and has helped thousands of people achieve food freedom and find health. This approach works, and we have over 125 scientific studies to back it.
This journey can seem long and difficult, but you don’t have to do it alone.
In my 11 week course, we will learn the 10 principles of intuitive eating and complete activities to help you on your way to food freedom. I will be with you every step of the way!
Each week, we will go over a different principle.
The 10 principles we will cover are:

- Make peace with food
- Challenge the food police
- Discover the satisfaction factor
- Feel your fullness
- Cope with emotions with kindness
- Respect your body
- Movement-feel the difference

Please note that this is not a weight loss group. This group is to learn the principles of Intuitive Eating, which is not a tool for weight loss and is also not appropriate for individuals with an active eating disorder.
